Nestor Partnership has agreed to fundraise for Headway – the brain injury association - during 2010. Being a horsey type, my challenge had to incorporate my passion for horses, as well as have some fun along the way. This particular challenge will be something that is outside my comfort zone, and that of my horse Penny (a somewhat mal-coordinated 16.2hh beast from Latvia who is terrified of cows)!

The Mary Towneley Loop, is a 47 mile circular route which forms part of the Pennine Bridleway National Trail. This trail Loop is a physically demanding one, which dips into and out of the steep sided South Pennine valleys. It will take 3 full days of riding to complete. The terrain comprises a variety of surfaces including grass tracks, stone setts, stone causeways, aggregate paths and some quiet roads across open moorland and wooded valleys. Although the trail is purpose built for horse riders, the challenge should not be underestimated. Horses and riders need to be fit and prepared. When is it? |
